Create a diagram
Insert the macro
Once you are editing a Confluence page (newly created or existing), you can add a diagram like any other macro.
Click on Insert more content > Excalidraw.
You can also use a shortcut by typing in your page "{excalidraw". A context menu should appear and you will then be able to select 'Excalidraw'.
Set a diagram name
When you create a diagram, you will see a dialog asking you to fill some information. You have to define a name to the diagram with the good format.
You have to use only lowercase letters separated by hyphen. You can now start drawing your diagram.
Edit an existing diagram
When you are editing a Confluence page, click on a diagram to open context menu.

You have different options from there :
Edit- edit the diagram itself to draw using the Excalidraw editor- Select a size for your diagram using corresponding icons : small, medium or large
Properties- Open diagram propertiesRemove- Delete the diagram
If you edit the diagram, you will have to save your changes using the Validate button in the page footer.
This will update the page attachment containing your diagram and send you back to the Confluence page editor.
You will be able to finish your other changes and then save the page.
Import a diagram
Using copy/paste
You can easily import diagrams or parts of diagrams using copy/paste. The Confluence plugin is fully compatible with excalidraw.com.
From a '.excalidraw' file
When you are editing an Excalidraw diagram through Confluence, you can use the 'open' menu at top left to open an Excalidraw file from your computer and import it to your current draw.
The Excalidraw plugin generate '.excalidraw' files when you save a diagram. You will find them in page attachments. Usefull if you want to keep locally a backup of some specific draws.
Delete a diagram
Simply click on a digram and click on Remove.
You can still have the diagram in your page attachments.
Change diagram sizes
From context menu
When you are editing a Confluence page, click on a diagram to open context menu. You will be able to change the render size of your diagram from there.
From diagram properties
Open your diagram editor using the Properties button in the context menu.
Among the properties you will find the render size and you will be able to change it there.
How to import libraries
When you are editing an Excalidraw diagram from Confluence, you can use the library button to import some piece of draw.
Excalidraw menu, to import a library, use the last button in the top bar.
